Things to Do in Penticton

Penticton sits between two lakes — Okanagan Lake to the north and Skaha Lake to the south — which makes water the heart of the town's identity, with wine country and mountain trails in every direction.

Beaches and the channel

Okanagan Lake Beach and Skaha Beach are the main swimming and paddleboarding spots. Floating or tubing the Okanagan River Channel between the two lakes is a classic Penticton summer day, and the lakefront promenade is popular for evening walks.

Wine country

The Naramata Bench, a ribbon of small wineries along the east side of Okanagan Lake, is one of the valley's most scenic wine routes, and Skaha-side estates lie to the south. Many wineries have patios and seasonal concerts. See Penticton wine events.

Trails, cycling and skiing

The Kettle Valley Rail Trail follows the old railway grade through the hills above town and is among the best-known cycling routes in BC. Apex Mountain Resort, west of Penticton, covers winter skiing and summer mountain biking.

Events and venues

The South Okanagan Events Centre hosts touring concerts and hockey, the Penticton Peach Festival is a long-running summer tradition, and the Penticton Farmers' Market runs on Saturdays in season. See Penticton concerts, nightlife, and summer events.
